Dribbling
One skill related component is dribbling. Without dribbling the game will be a whole lot slower and no one would be able to run with the ball or get the ball up and down the field efficiently. To dribble the ball you need to have a stick and a ball. In hockey the ball is not allowed to touch the curved side of the stick, so make sure that when you are dribbling you are only touching the ball with the flat side of the stick. To dribble to need to have the ball in front or your hockey stick, and move the ball with the hockey stick. While doing this step you need to also run with the ball and control the ball's speed by moving your hockey stick around the ball. When you are dribbling do not lose the ball or let the ball off the stick, it is also easier to dribble the ball with the stick close to your side and not out in front.
Passing and Blocking
Another skill related component is blocking and passing. Blocking and passing in hockey is very useful as is means that you don't have to run as much and it is a quicker way of getting the ball from one player to the other. It is also helpful to get around another play, but you need at least two people for this exercise. For this skill you need a ball, hockey stick and a partner. To pass the ball you need to have the ball in front of your stick, take one step out in front of yourself and push the hockey stick towards your partner or the person you are passing to. To block the ball you need to watch the ball coming towards you and maybe move towards where the ball is heading, hold the stick with one hand at the top and on hand on the end of the rubber on your stick and hold your stick flat on the ground. Let the ball roll into your stick. You may not get this your first time but after practising for a while I can promise that you will improve.
